Hi! My name is Marije and I’m a connector, storyteller and a global citizen. Dutch by origin, I speak several languages and I have had the pleasure of living in different places. My most recent adventure was New York City and now I’m back in The Hague, the Netherlands. 

Wherever I go, I thrive when I get to truly connect with people. Be it on stage as a facilitator, as a trainer, communications consultant or simply with friends and family. 

I appreciate the diversity and individuality in people, I love to find out what drives them and listen to their stories. A natural helper and supporter,  I will go the extra mile to help you achieve your personal or business goals. 

After 14 years in corporate life and different roles in internal and leadership communications, I decided to become independent and combine my personality, knowledge and experience in the activities I enjoy most: facilitating, training and consulting.

Host of podcasts, virtual and live events

During my communications career, I discovered how much I enjoy being on stage as a facilitator and I've had plenty of opportunity to practice my skills at both live and virtual events. I easily engage with different kinds of audiences, sensing what they need, ensuring the best results for your event. 

On stage I will give energy, make your speakers feel comfortable, but also ask them the 'difficult' questions and keep track of time. I'm happy to host your event in Dutch, English or French. 

If you are interested in working with me, our initial contact usually happens via phone or e-mail. You’ll specify what it is you are looking for and we’ll agree on a fee. Included are two preparation meetings during which we will discuss your event in more detail and work on a script. I also like to meet any potential speakers upfront. Although I'm happy to improvise when needed, I prefer leaving as little as possible to the unexpected.

Insights Discovery Trainer

As a trainer, I help individuals and teams with self-awareness, connection and communication. I joined the team of Pro Candor in Belgium, who offer a variety of trainings and have years of experience in the field. 

At Pro Candor, we want to create a world in which people truly understand themselves and others, and are inspired to make a positive difference with everything they do. 

We work with Insights Discovery, a methodology based on an online questionnaire. The result of the answers to these questions appears in an accessible colour model. The order and intensity of the four colours provide an insight into your own behavioural preferences, as well as those of your colleagues and clients, keeping the diversity and individuality of each person in tact.

Communications consultant

Sometimes you can use some hands-on support with work that ebbs and flows. A fresh pair of eyes can help you see new opportunities to optimise your brandstory or other messaging. You may not have the budget - or the need- to hire a full-time communications specialist. By working with an external consultant like me, you can keep the costs low and still be in control of what and where you communicate. You’ll brief me directly and I will also be involved in the execution. This ensures a smooth dynamic and gives you value for your money. 

Having worked for over 14 years in the communications field, I've had the opportunity to work on many interesting projects, effectively translating business strategy into a communications approach and deliverables. Added Value - diversity consulting

How a special project became a business... When I got involved in the diversity approach at my previous employer, I came up with the concept of a magazine. Added Value was designed to inspire people about the benefits of diversity and inclusion on the work floor. Since then, we have made five beautiful issues, featuring strong content and photography, in-depth interviews, columns, infographics and more.
